Bureau of Fire Prevention
The City of Paris Bureau of Fire Prevention (Fire Marshal’s Office) has multiple responsibilities. They are responsible for the enforcement of the fire codes and adopted ordinances. They perform plan reviews for all new construction or major remodeling and issue various permits for fire protection.
This office also performs annual inspections where required and oversees company inspections in nine inspection districts. These inspection districts are assigned to certified inspectors within the fire department. Periodic night inspections of nightclubs and bars are conducted to ensure the safety of the public. Assisted by the Suppression Division, the Bureau of Fire Prevention performs numerous public education programs yearly.
The Bureau of Fire Prevention is also responsible for investigating fires. This includes conducting criminal investigations of arson fires, arresting those responsible for setting fires or committing crimes associated with fire, and presenting cases to the appropriate court of law. The personnel assigned to this division are certified firefighters, fire inspectors, and fire and arson investigators.
Those that are arson investigators are certified by the State of Texas as peace officers. The individuals that are assigned to this division are responsible for fire and life safety compliance of over 1,500 businesses.

Fire Marshal – Clyde P. Crews Jr.
Deputy Chief / Fire Marshal Crews began his career as a professional firefighter with the Paris Fire Department on January 06, 1997. Chief Crews has previously held the position of Firefighter, Driver, Engineer and Deputy Chief before he was assigned as Fire Marshal on October 12, 2015.
He holds certifications as a Firefighter Master, Arson Investigator Master, Inspector Master, Fire Service Instructor III Master, Emergency Medical Technician, Hazardous Materials Technician, and is a Licensed Peace Officer for the State of Texas.
