Please review the information below when reporting fraud, a hit-and-run accident, or harassing phone calls.
Harassing Phone Calls
If you have been the victim of harassing or threatening phone calls, you can use the online reporting system. If the threats are of a nature that you feel that there is an imminent or immediate danger to your physical safety, you should call 903-784-6688.
If you are receiving the phone calls on a landline phone, you may need to contact your phone provider for additional information, such as a log of when calls were received and the phone number they are coming from if not visible on your caller ID.
Hit-and-Run Accident
Hit-and-run accidents can be reported online. (Examples: Your car was parked unattended, and an unknown driver/vehicle hit your car and didn't leave a note, or a vehicle hit your car and then fled without stopping to exchange information or before you could get a license plate.)
Take photographs of the damage to your vehicle, a photo showing your entire vehicle, including the license plate, and photos of the surrounding scene of the area where it was parked to be uploaded into the report.
If another vehicle hits your vehicle on a public roadway and leaves the scene, the damage is significant, and/or your vehicle cannot be driven safely, you should call 903-784-6688.
In order for a hit-and-run offense report to be investigated, you must report it promptly and be able to say with certainty where it happened. (Examples: You are shopping at a store and come out to the parking lot and discover your car has been damaged by another vehicle that left the scene as opposed to discovering damage to your vehicle at home and thinking it must have happened when you were parked at a business location yesterday or a few days ago.)
Parking Lot Accidents
If another driver hits your vehicle in a parking lot and remains at the scene, providing their information or leaving a note with the required information, those involved can complete a CR-2 Blue Form to aid in reporting the accident to insurance companies. The Paris Police Department does not complete accident reports for non-injury parking lot accidents. If there are physical injuries resulting from a parking lot accident, call 903-784-6688 or 911 if an ambulance is needed.
Reporting Fraud
If you are the victim of identity theft or fraud please get and keep all papers, receipts, cancelled checks, mail from companies, etc. related to this crime. We may contact you to get these items if needed and you should keep copies for your records.
There are some groups you should get in touch with if you are the victim of identity theft or fraud, some will ask for the report number you get at the end of this online police report process.

Helpful Tips:
- Protect your social security number and only give it out when required by law.
- No bank, auction site or other business should send you an email asking you to enter credit card information, passwords, social security numbers or other personal information. Often these fake emails will contain links to pages that look real but are not. If you suspect you are being directed to a fake site please go to the actual home web site of the company and inform them of what has happened.
- Avoid mail theft by obtaining a locked mailbox and dropping off outgoing mail at the local post office or postal mailbox.
- Do not give out your personal information or credit card number over the phone unless you initiated the call.
- Shred credit card offers and bank statements before you throw them away if you do not plan on using them.
