Reporting Fallen or Sagging Utility Lines
DO NOT attempt to determine if the line is a power, cable television, telephone, or internet line. Follow the instructions for reporting downed power lines listed above. The electric distribution companies will then determine what other utilities are involved and report the issue to those providers.
Tree Trimming Information
Oncor preventative tree pruning takes place as needed on a five-year rotation. Lamar Electric Cooperative conducts preventative tree pruning as needed on an eight-year rotation. Both companies are responsible for trimming and cleaning up during these scheduled pruning activities. When trees are damaged, resulting in power outages, the companies will remove debris from the power lines, and the property owner will be responsible for the disposal of removed debris.
The Public Utilities Commission of Texas offers a fact sheet about trees and power lines.
