Bicycle Theft

Paris is really known for it's love of cycling.  The Police Department would like to offer some tips about protecting bicycles belonging to children and adults, as all have become more expensive.

Most of the bike thefts we investigate are those in which the bike was left unsecured in the front yard or side yard of a residence. Bikes should be placed out of sight, inside a garage or shed or cabled to prevent theft.

When using a chain or cable to secure the bike, make sure to thread the cable through the frame and front tire rim if the bike has an easily removable front wheel.

To aid in recovering your stolen bike, there is an on-line registration form you can complete and send it to the department.  We keep these on file for theft investigations only. You can access this form by clicking here.

Our Community Policing Officer Curtis Garrett takes care of the bicycle registration program. Should you have any questions, you can call him directly at 903-737-4111 or contact him by e-mail by clicking here.
